State and federal court

We handle criminal cases in Georgia state courts and in federal court. Federal cases are prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney's Office and move under different rules, including federal sentencing guidelines and investigations that often start long before an arrest.

Mike is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia, the District of Maryland, and the District of Columbia. If you've been contacted by federal agents or received a target letter, call us before you talk to anyone.

“He moves fast, responds swiftly, and really fights for you!!”

Serious felonies and complex cases

RICO, gang, and conspiracy cases are some of the most serious charges a person can face, and we defend them in both state and federal court. They often involve many co-defendants, months of wiretaps and surveillance, and thousands of pages of discovery. Prosecutors use them to tie people to conduct they may have had little or nothing to do with.

These cases call for a lawyer who will dig through every page of the evidence, challenge how it was gathered, and separate your role from everyone else's. That's what we do.

How we defend you

Every case starts with the evidence. Was the stop lawful? Was the search legal? Can the prosecution prove every element? We look for the weaknesses in the government's case and use them, whether that means getting evidence thrown out, negotiating a reduced charge, or taking your case to trial.

If you've been arrested

  1. Stay quiet. You have the right to remain silent. Use it, politely, until you've talked to a lawyer.
  2. Don't consent to searches. You can say no. Don't physically resist.
  3. Don't talk about your case on jail phones, texts, or social media. It's all recorded.
  4. Call us. The earlier we're involved, the more we can do.

Common questions

Should I talk to the police to clear things up?

No. Even innocent people can say things that are misunderstood or used against them. Talk to a lawyer first.

Do you handle federal cases?

Yes. We defend clients charged in both state and federal court, including federal drug, firearm, and fraud cases. If federal agents have contacted you, call us right away.

Do you handle RICO and gang cases?

Yes. We defend clients charged with RICO, gang, and conspiracy offenses in state and federal court. These cases move fast and the stakes are high, so call us as early as you can.

Can my charges be dropped?

Sometimes. It depends on the evidence and how it was obtained. We'll review your case and tell you honestly what we see.
